Since both Incoloy 800 and 825 are similar, their properties or characteristics are similar as well. Yet in some ways, it is the Incoloy 825 Flanges, which are considered better. Firstly, while both materials have resistance to aqueous media, Alloy 825 has a significantly higher level of resistance to corrosion in aqueous environments. This nickel alloy flange is constructed with inclusions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium, each of which gives the material immunity to some degree.
Incoloy 825 Flanges
Inconel 825 Weld Neck Flange
UNS N08825 Blind Flange
While copper makes the UNS N08825 Blind Flange immune to brine solution or seawater, which contains sodium chloride, titanium prevents sensitization at the grain boundary, thereby effectively making intergranular corrosion redundant. Because the content of nickel, which is the primary alloyant of the ASTM B564 UNS N08825 Pipe Flange and Forgings is high, the material remains resilient to stress related corrosion cracking. On the whole, the combination of nickel with chromium, molybdenum, and copper to form alloy 825, gives it outstanding corrosion resistance properties.
Unlike most traditionally employed stainless steel alloys, the Class 150 Alloy 825 Socket weld flange strongly resists reducing environments, even those circumstances that contain highly corrosive acids such as sulphuric and phosphoric acids. Like most alloys that benefit from including chromium in its chemistry, the Nickel Alloy 825 Slip-On Flanges are known to resist oxidizing environments as well. The high mechanical strength along with being strengthened by cold working makes the Alloy 825 Weld Neck Flange a valued material particularly for use between 540°C to cryogenic temperatures.
