Although nickel alloys have the ability to withstand elevated temperatures, it is alloy 800 and its series that is extraordinary in terms of withstanding carburizing or even nitriding atmospheres. In those applications where the temperatures are limited up to 1100° F, it is advisable to use Incoloy 800 Flanges because they can demonstrate excellent performance. However, for a temperature range beyond 1100° F, most manufacturers recommend using either alloy 800H or alloy 800HT.
Incoloy 800 Flanges
Alloy 800HT Weld Neck Flange
Inconel 800 Blind Flange
These Incoloy alloy components such as the Inconel 800 Blind Flange tend to exhibit resistance to not only creep but also in those areas where resistance to rupture is required. The chemical composition of ALLOY 800HT Weld Neck Flange permits the nickel steel metal to manifest excellent resistance to oxidation, in addition to both carburizing and nitriding atmospheres. For instance, using Incoloy 800HT for extended periods of time between a temperature range of 1200° F - 1600° F does not result in the flange turning brittle, unlike other conventional stainless steels.
Aside from its inherent heat bearing capability, the ASTM B564 UNS N08800 RTJ Flange has high mechanical strength, outstanding corrosion resistance properties, while offering an extremely stable construction, making it suited to demanding operations. Because of the higher content of nickel in Alloy 800HT Socket Weld Flange, the material is known to have resistance to stress induced corrosion cracking. Unlike several stainless steel alloys, the UNS N08800 Slip On Flange is known for being resistant in multiple aqueous mediums.
