Monel 400 is cold worked, solution strengthened alloy. Cold working any alloy improves its surface smoothness and imparts dimensional stability to the Monel 400 Pipe Fittings, making the material more durable and long lasting. A high nickel alloy, the addition of significant content of copper imparts the alloy with superior resistance to sodium chloride solutions including brine and seawater. Thus, the UNS N04400 Alloy 400 forged Fittings and Socket Weld Elbows could be used as a part of marine engineering piping systems, that may require directional changes.

Nickel Alloy 400 Buttweld Tee
Like with most cold worked alloys, annealing the material has low strength in an annealed condition. Tempering Monel 400 yields better results. Hence, the Monel Alloy 400 Long/ Short Radius Elbow and Bends could be used to a temperature of 1000° F. The material has a low rate of corrosion in high velocity brackish or seawater.
Its resistance to salt solutions in combination with exceptional resistance to stress related corrosion cracking makes the Monel 2.4360 Eccentric/ Concentric Reducer well suited to survive most freshwater bodies. Moreover, the material is not limited to salt solutions, but the resistance of Monel 400 across a broad spectrum of corrosive conditions led to wider use of the Nickel Alloy 400 Buttweld Tee in other chemical processing industries in addition to applications that contain non-oxidizing chloride solutions.
